Or the Mushu year as I like to call it in my head.
How was it?
Pretty quiet to me actually. It seems like there are less people coming to visit as each year passes by.. But I'm thankful for one thing though, this year, our whole family was together. With the exception of my grandfather (he passed away some years back). No mum or cousin missing due to being overseas. All were home! I could see my grandma was happy. Heck. I was happy.
Family Picture!
Honestly, I love chinese new year.
Bahh hum bug! I hear some of you say. The traffic jams, the awkward smiles and hellos to distant relatives and also the "*pinch pinch* AIYO! Why you so thin one! Never eat is it?!"
Not me. And its not even about the ang pows or good food.
As cliched as it may seem, I love the 'meriah-ness' of it all. Its only this time of the year the whole family get together. The noisy-ness, the busy-ness, the laughter and odd quirks. How could you not enjoy that?
As a kid I ran around, playing with the cousins. And now, as a 20 year old, I'm no longer running around but there was still playing. Haha. Man! The countless times we played cho dai di, BANG and monopoly deal. Pop pop and sparklers! And we went to the beach!
I'm a happy camper. This year wasn't bad at all.
Family. =)
