Even an Australian visited this place before, while I have not.
Well, not anymore!
First off, I would like to just say...I was pleasantly surprised! There I was expecting a decrepit small town...when *BAM*. The place and buildings were kept in tip top condition. Streets clean. Trees lining the streets. And there were so much to see and do! I really wish Ipoh and even Penang will be kept in as good a condition as Melaka.
And so my day began..
Our driver/tour guide Ivan did a splendid job feeding us - pork satay, delicious nyonya food, durian puffs and cendol and lastly THE BEST tandoori and triple cheese naan! *burp*
In between, we visited Jonker Street. There...
We shopped for souvenirs.
Adam enough biscuits to feed an army.
I chased a non-pop-able bubble down the street....which got ran over by a car in the end.
We squeezed a rubber chicken.
And had egg-shaped ice cream!
We then visited the sights!
Stadthuys - City Hall in Dutch.
Kota A Famosa!
We hiked up to the church ruins on St Paul's Hill.
view from the top of the hill
We ended our trip with a river cruise (note to self: Get pictures from Ivan)
The weather was just so perfect. Bright moon, cooling breeze.
But it was the great company that made the trip extra special.. :)
